The Calpe RCN team is proclaimed champion of the Greenwich Women’s Cup

The podium closes with the teams of RCM Marítimo y Tenis Punta Umbría and RCR de Cartagena

The first Greenwich Women's Cup regatta already has its first champion team. The Real Club Náutico de Calpe, led by Sarah Moreau, takes the title in a single day of competition marked by the harsh conditions of wind, wave and rain, although in the end and after 15.00 hours has been able to launch a test with a wind of 8 knots of intensity on an axis of 290 degrees.

At the scheduled time, 11.00 a.m., the race committee hoisted Delta for all crews, hoping for minimally optimal conditions to dispute the planned program, established by a Round Robin in fleet format with the Tom28.

Just after leaving the wind remained at a constant 25 knots of intensity, reaching over 30 to load the gust. These were not valid conditions for the fleet so the committee made them return to land, hoisting postponement on numeral 2, so that within 2 hours would not give a notice.

A drop in pressure, but yes, accompanied by heavy rain, the fleet returned to the race area with the aim of being able to complete at least one race in fleet with the six boats after the withdrawal of the team of the RCN Torrevieja on a windward-leeward course.

A very complicated race for the six teams in competition, with an unstable and strong wind, with a wave of almost two meters that further complicated the work of the girls, who have managed well all these ingredients, being the RCN Calpe, with Sarah Moreau, Lucia Ribes, Ana Caso, Ana Ochando and Angela Shperd who have been more successful, crossing the finish line first.

After the Calpe team, the next crew has been Andalusian, with the team of the RCM Maritime and Tennis Punta Umbria, led by Adriana Serra. The bronze went to the representatives of the Region of Murcia, the RCR de Cartagena team led by Aitana Baeza.

The first classification in a regatta in Marina Greenwich closes with the teams of the RCN of Madrid, with Elena Raga as leader, followed by the MRCY of Bayonne, with Carlota Hernandez, RCR of Alicante with Lara Himmes and closing the top seven the team of the RCN of Torrevieja with Elena Garcia.

The ceremony and delivery of trophies was held in Marina Greenwich, with Pedro Piqueras as master of ceremony and with the presence of the councilors Sara Soler and Xelo González, in their respective areas of Sports and Tourism; Carlos Torrado, president of the Sailing Federation of the Comunitat Valenciana; Santiago Ronda, president of Cruz Roja Altea; Federico Fuster, president of HOSBEC (Hotel and Tourism Business Association of the Valencian Community); Juan Antonio Nieves, sub Delegate of the Government; Juan Bosco, sub Delegate of Defense; Javier de Céspedes, Captain of Marina Greenwich Port, among other personalities.
